Many folks would rather be a hero or a leader.

I've found that it is not for me, I'm just an avid reader.

I've always hated power, I'm not too bright or fast.

When danger strikes I cower. In fights I come in last.

So if you're wanting idols you'd better look elsewhere.

I'm happy hitching bridles. You'd never know I'm there.

I know that I'm no Robin Hood; I'm with the Merry Band.

I'm not a boss with legs of wood, I'm just the ships deck-hand.

So let me be forgettable, a nameless background act.

It would be unregrettable, I'd get to stay intact!
