A response again to curtaindad
This point of yours I do concede, and let me tell you why
Had I never met you, I wouldn't be here now
I wouldn't be a poem born of dawn and dusk and flame
A monotony was broken the day I changed my name
And now I know because of you I'll never be the same
But consider this, before I go--
How did it come to pass that you and I became so close?
Is it not you or I who made it so?
Did we not fill out an application
Enter the same class
Be matched by personality for dorm rooms
And learn to love and trust so fast?
My point, my love, is not to disagree--
Only to trace back several years deeper
To the places we both used to be.
And tell me,
Where do you think we'd be
If you hadn't chosen you, and I hadn't chosen me?
