Falling Leaves in Falling Rain
Falling leaves in falling rain swirled on their descent
leaves from trees that were once seeds, now fall away
rain from clouds, once oceans and waves that evaporated,
now fall on me, watching closely and waiting for stillness
In my mind, there is no stopping
(even as I write this, it's pouring somewhere.)
and yet --
reading now, I am farther from then
a stillness appears between the falling rain and leaves.
a stillness that swirls and parts what falls as I stand still,
wondering who it is that watches and writes,
and who it is that remembers and reads.
