Broken

I wish you would realize

I am not fishing hooks and empty beer bottles

Or whiskey on someone's breath

I am coconut lime shea sugar

And bath salts and pretty pink things

I wish everyone

Would stop acting like I'm broken

For not knowing how to fix a car engine

Or all the rules of football

Because,

The truth is…

I am broken.

Just not for those things.

I am broken because

I can't wear makeup in public

Or a dress or some heels or tights

For having extremely broad shoulders and facial hair

I am broken,

But not for the reasons you think I am.
