when Loneliness came to tea
when Loneliness came to tea,
she knocked loudly
and said my drapes were ugly.
she wasn't happy with my china
she didn't like the tea-
"do you have this sugar, but finer?"
she wondered why no one else was there--
"tea for Two" doesn't mean much
if only One seems to care.
i asked her in because she looked so cold
with her eyeslipsfingerstoes blue,
and still she sits at my kitchen table
and talks to me
she hasn't
left
yet
but if she leaves
i'll be
all
alone
again.
[author's note: this popped into my head one day. i like how it shows the author's ability to think straight slowly disintegrating. it really demonstrates how basic human contact is important for everyone.]
