Fine Dining
We had reservations for a nice restaurant in town,
But, by the time we got there
The place had burned down.
You turned back to me and said “Don’t you worry there, my dear.
We’ll head on back to my place
And grab us some beer.”
So back into the car and on the crowded road we went,
Blaring music all the way
To your apartment.
Once inside we upturned your whole kitchen in search of food,
Finding stale pasta and sauce
No time to be prude.
Our feet were freed from heels and our coats had been tucked away,
We sat atop the counter
Talking of our days.
We end up trading some of our more embarrassing times,
My loudly misspoken words
And your fear of mimes.
The pot boiling over put a stop to conversation,
You nigh fell off the counter
From your frustration.
But dinner turns out fine, well as fine as one can expect,
I don't even have to eat it
Out of pure respect.
Once we have finished eating and have cleaned up our whole mess,
We head back to your bedroom
Where we both undress.
So while these may not’ve been our plans originally,
A night in with you's always
Fine dining to me.
