Body Language Speaks
Body Language Speaks
The applicant for publicity manager
stood with folded arms
looking quite disinterested
at the elderly lady sitting
behind the desk in the office.
The lady was speaking softly
on the phone to a woman about flying a
twin-engine Lockheed Electra.
She looked up at him and said
"Good morning Sir my name is Amelia.
You are early for your appointment. "
She hung up the phone and slowly but steadily
walked over to him extending a firm hand
and was surprised in receiving an extremely weak
handshake from such a young man.
She continued telling him she used to fly
and was giving her great granddaughter tips
on the safety of small aircraft flying.
Hah he thought with no respect to her at all
and without even looking into her sparkling eyes
the old bag is full of crap I am not buying into her message.
Amelia indeed... and flying ...she is so crazy he thought.
Amelia left the room leaving the man slouching in a chair
fidgeting with his ear and playing a game on his cell
phone making facial signals of discomfort and anxiety.
Amelia returned with coffee and pastries
and she noticed he was looking down when he heard her enter
with the tray, not even lifting his head to acknowledge her
or offer to help with the tray. He kept his distance from her
showing he was uncomfortable, distrustful and disinterested in Amelia.
Amelia saw a lack confidence in this man with poor self esteem.
Little did he know she owned the business hand picking her employees.
