January
Paused at the edge
Of the lamplight
Afraid of the darkness beyond,
It's been so long
Since I last saw you,
Yet I'm here again,
With a rose.
January snow so silent
Will soon cover any tracks
I might leave,
Some still ignore
The truth that I loved you,
Forget me and bury me too.
But for as long
As I'm still breathing,
Every year I'll bring you a rose,
A kiss,
From our long hot summer,
To melt the January snow.
