Last Goodbye

My eyes are red from crying,

My heart is slowly dying,

Seeing you gently lay on the hospital bed,

Remembering all the things you had said,

You still have a smile on your your face,

Preparing to leave us for a better place.

I know you were lying,

'Everything will be alright',

You told me so convincingly,

You never wanted to leave our side,

But in this moment of truth,

You were brave as a warrior going to battle,

Telling us not to be weak and distraught.

There is not a day anymore,

That I forget to curse,

The evil monster called Blood Cancer,

That possessed you completely,

Now, you have a few hours left,

In this beautiful journey called life,

Wish I could join you,

Travel to the next chapter,

For a possible existence together.

We lived our whole life here on Earth,

Together, side by side,

Now you are leaving me alone,

And I can't bear you gone,

Our room will be empty,

Of the joyful cheer and cries,

No more broken toys,

No more silly fights,

And sharing snacks at night.

This is the saddest day of my life,

But your ever present angelic smile,

Is hurting me more than ever,

You are leaving us too early.......

Promise to stay by my side always,

I will never forget you Malcolm!
