Am I Dreaming?
I jumped up out of my sleep, thankful that what I just experienced was just a dream. The intensity was almost unbearable. I almost finished my bottle of water resting on my nightstand. It was nearly time for me to wake up and shower. I just remembered that the building was going to be shutting off the water this afternoon. This was strange because the notice was in the mail over a month ago. The shower provided that relaxing spa treatment, which was much needed. I turned on the news, as I always did. They were going on about some small company that was gaining popularity due to a new environmental project that was supposed to improve the quality of the Earth's plant life and atmosphere. On my way to work something told me to call my broker and invest in said corporation. As I pulled in to work William, my close friend, decides he can't start his day without cracking jokes about how my blind date went a few days ago. I should have never told him anything. He wanted to know what color tie he should wear for his interview that he had later on. I told him black since it was a financial investment firm. I took a glance at their website and logo when I was over his house yesterday. I felt it important to remind him that he should mention his experience with large investments, and that he possessed an excellent track record of reliability and efficiency. After we got off the phone I attended my meeting that was scheduled, then completed my daily tasks. My broker called me back to let me know that I had already made at least 5k from my investment thanks to news that this small company would be merging with a much larger company, which was going to help fund their new project. This news would normally be cause for celebration, but something felt different today. On my way home my brain was working way more than usual. Normally I'm relaxed at this time. I finished three crossword puzzles and beat the computer on the highest level of chess on my tablet earlier. To say this was not normal would be an understatement. When I made it home I found myself solving quadratic equations and looking up philosophical theories. Why I now understood all of this was beyond me. William called back and told me that he had gotten the job because the company had lost too much money as a whole last quarter and there was something about his tie that said profit. He was ecstatic and shot me a thank you. I told him that it wasn't a problem, even though in reality it could be. After hours of contemplation, I decided that tomorrow I would head over to the local university and meet with a few great minds to ensure that I was, in fact, not going crazy. I seem to recall them attempting to expand their STEM department a while back, maybe I could be of some assistance. If I had indeed become a genius overnight, it was only right that I begin my much needed contribution to my fellow citizens and mother nature herself.
