Intelligence: a Jim Ganzalas Story
Some wish for super human strength. Some wish for the perfect look. Others just want to be different. My name is Jim Ganzalas and this is the story about the day I woke up as the smartest person alive. I wake up to the sound of my alarm and lazily roll myself onto my side. The digital clock reads 5:30 but my brain is too sluggish to comprehend it. When I finally muster enough brain power to get up and ready for work, I immediately regret it when my head is pierced with an intense headache. I reach for my phone and remember that I left it in the bathroom the night before. Forcing myself out of bed, I am rewarded by another jab of pain. My vision starts to blur, then the world starts to spin around me. I lie back down and everything instantly goes black. I hear hushed voices above me and try to open my eyes. I immediately regret it when a severe light penetrates and burns through my eyes. I hear a scream and realize that I'm the one screaming. I happily receive unconsciousness as a source of escape. I wake again and find that my headache has vanished as if it had never been there. I sit up and find that the dizziness has disappeared too. A nurse walks in holding a tablet and asks me how I feel. I just tell her that I feel fine but I would like a glass of water. She promises to return soon. I gaze at the TV screen and see that I have made the news. There is a picture of my house swarmed with FBI agents. Anyone else would be shocked to have a swarm of agents at their house but being a agent myself, I would have been more shocked if they were not. Sure they will probably not find anything, but as my dad always said, it's the thought that counts. The nurse comes back in my room and starts to run tests on me. She forgot the water. She tells me that the doctor wants to run some tests to test for concussion or possible drugging. I don't mind because it is not my first time. The last time though, it was after a case, in which I was kidnapped. This time promises to be fairly simple. The doctor enters my room and I am surprised to see the FBI director standing with him. Apparently the FBI does notice my work. The doctor explains to me that I was negative on both the concussion and drug test and I am in top physical shape, so there is no reason for my episode the day before. He then tells me that the director wants me to take an IQ test to make sure I didn't lose too many "smarts" as he put it. After answering a series of questions, I wait in my room waiting to hear the results. After waiting for four hours I decide to take a nap. I again wake to the sound of voices murmuring above me. I recognize them as the same visitors from earlier, the doctor and the director. When they notice that I am awake they are instantly quiet. The doctor tells me that my IQ results came in. I have to ask several time for the results before he finally yields to my request. He tells me that my IQ was average for a male of my age but now...now they were record breaking high...impossibly high. I was the smartest person alive.
