Sleepwalking
When you're a kid, you don't quite notice it. It almost creeps up on you.
You have no idea that these labels are headed right for you. It's so inevitable. That free feeling of spontaneous adventure is so close to you. A day is never boring, nor the same as the previous. Your peers await you and you're received with warmth and gratitude. Let the games begin! So ambitious and resilient, even though so many tears will be shed. Huge dreams and never-ending fairy tales stalk your underdeveloped mind. What is guilt? What is real love? What is total sacrifice? What is trust? What is your purpose? All questions which will be answered in so many different ways that will impact all of your relationships and choices. The more you learn and the longer you live, under carefully trained control, the more you will understand. Every day you grow closer to old, boring, predictable, and fragile, the closer you get to that box. That shiny box you thought was so pretty. A plan you thought was ideal. "I can't wait to grow up," you said. Your peers now look at you in disgust. No one was able to stand up to the establishment. Everyone was fooled into following all of the different footsteps layed out in front of them. Dad was a lawyer. Mom was a teacher. What are you? You've been categorized as basic. No fancy whistles or bells here. Who is eccentric? Not you. I hope you didn't think you were going to change the world. Remember when you used to feel so free? How in the hell did you become so routine?
