Challenge
Challenge of the Week #59: Modernise Shakespeare’s ‘Shall I Compare Thee’ sonnet. The most masterfully written piece, as voted and determined by the Prose team, will be crowned winner and receive $100. Quality beats quantity, always, but numbers make things easier for our judges, so share, share, share with friends, family, and connections. #ProseChallenge #getlit #itslit
Morning Sonnet
I start to havoc ringing through my ears
My head is heavy while my eyes still sleep
I sneak a peak and groan, my body gears
I wish it not but sunny rays still creep
Throw back the covers to the rumbling snores
I wash my face and brush my teeth I sigh
My mom sings songs too pretty to ignore
Another sleepless night has passed me by
The kettle shrieks, the bread ignites with taste
Step out the door the wind is oh so cruel
Transform myself, my minds too strong to waste
I’m prepped and packed; it’s time to go to school
As birds rejoice, I greet the morn with ease
Enchanted dreams, the day is mine to seize
