A Walk Amongst Gods
She remembers the time
Oh so clear
When she flew above the clouds
The excitement of belonging
The taste of adoration
The slight flush of power
Oh the sweet clear air
For a moment
She
Shared
That
Air
With the Gods
And basked in the glow
So close
Then one turned
To look at her with eyes of the stormy sea
With furrowed brow
As if perpetually angry
But a smile that would melt
The coldest berg
Lured
She drifted
Too close
Her hearting pounding
Until slowly the sky darkened
And other more sinister eyes
Turned toward her
The mortal who dared
This would not do
Voices rose
In a crescendo of disapproval
The air vibrated
Melting her resolve
Enough
To send her into freefall
Crashing back to Earth
A broken bundle
All because
*She flew too close to the Sun*
