Funny Bunny
The opening lines from Funny Bunny by the Pillows.
Life has become boring for this guy and he's feeling a little apathetic, reminiscing on how exciting everything was when he had this special girl in his life. But she's gone now, and he isn't even really that sad it's been so long, but he can't help but remember all of the happy memories of the goofy times spent joking around with her. There's a sad sort of tone to the piece, but in the end it's a beautiful statement about bringing meaning to our lives, and how important a little laughter can be.
I like it because it's simple. On one hand it is just another 'lost love' song, but it ends on a note that revels in the beautiful pain of life.
王様の声に逆らって
ばれちゃった夜キミが笑っていた
オーロラに触れる丘の上
両手を伸ばして僕を誘っていた
Translation:
Defying the voice of our king
on that night that leaked out; you were laughing
atop a hill touched by the aurora
you supported me, with both hands raised to the sky
Phonetic:
Ohsama no koe ni sakaratte
barechatta yoru kimi ga waratteita
aurora ni sawareru oka no ue
morote wo nobashite boku wo sasotteita
