The woman they thought was
One night was all it took to fall in love
That night went by softly like a dove
The night he thought he would have dreaded
Turned into the night he had regretted
The lady appeared, shiny and new
The lady of glass and a dress of blue
Unlike the others that stood in line
He knew this one was before her time
The brightest smile, the graceful hand
The most beautiful lady in all the land
And with that they danced and danced
At that moment he was in her trance
They escaped to a courtyard of green
So they could talk without being seen
But at that moment the clock had struck
Now at midnight the maiden was stuck
She ran to her carriage, swift and quick
That should have been when he knew it was a trick
She drove away, under the little and big dipper
But she forgot one thing, her shiny glass slipper
The next morning he set out to find
The lady he wanted so their love could bind
Through every town, through every street
He couldn't find the lady he wanted to keep
Then at the last, the very last house
With a fat cat, three wicked women and a mouse
They tried on the slippers, they pushed and shoved
And then she came from the room above
This can't be her, the young prince thought
but, truth be told, the other slipper she brought
The prince now stunned lowered his head in shame
he had fallen for a wench, he thought, it was just a game
The lady in blue, now covered in brown
No matter what, he could never give her a crown
So he thought, then figured a plan
Oh yes, readers, he was an awful man
She was a wench, he thought, they weren't the same blood
He could never love someone covered in mud
She got in the carriage and as they drove away
He knew that he didn't want her to stay
As they rounded the bend he opened the door
And pushed the young maiden onto the forest floor
They drove off and truth be told
The young maiden wa actually bold
He heard a chant come from the woods
Then a sound came from under the carriage's hood
The horse broke off, ran into the forest's depth
The prince went over the side of a cliff, and fell to his death
If you can't handle the godmother,
Then next time, don't bother!
