A Hero Wandering Through the Wood
I walked through the wood and I found a goose
From the farmer's fences it had got loose
And because such a hero am I
Back to fields I would bring it by
While on my way I'd met a wolf
By hunger it had been engulfed
And from the goodness in my heart
As a meal I'd let this goose take part
But soon after the wolf had snacked
By fearful farmers it was attacked
And because I have such good to show
I'd give this wolf the final blow
And as the wolf stay lying dead
They asked me where their goose had fled
And because I show goodwill now and again
I lied to spare their feelings then
Though saddened by my small mistruth
They took no anger on me so uncouth
I look upon the beaten hound
And then my head begins to pound
If any virtue I live by
These creatures wouldn't have to die
A "hero" wandering through the wood
Has done what many never should
