Challenge
A social challenge. Look at the last person to post on this challenge. Describe how their body of work/style of writing hits you. Meaning, if you aren't familiar with their work, take a moment to read some of their posts. Keep it empowering. I'll kick it off by picking someone at random. Don't forget to tag the person you're writing about!
@autumn “I feel like black smeared eyeliner”
I read this line and thought, "Yes. I know how that feels. Shitty and kinda cozy at the same time."
This writer has some bangin' lines interspersed through themes of love, depression, sex, authenticity, and loneliness. I want more of them. A fellow writer once said, "Avoid cliche' and trite phrases at all costs." I feel like Autumn has it in her to punch people's guts out as she continues to hone her icy, clear voice.
See, lines like this draw me in instantly, like a swirling eddy of words, dragging me down, deep, unapologetic. Lines like this let the image do the talking.
So one sentence to sum up the way Autumn's work on Prose. hits me?
Velvet sledgehammer in the process of revealing itself, one inevitable slam at a time.
