Zombie Day
I hate Monday. I mean I shouldn't, it's (probably) only a coincidence that this happened on a Monday, but still... at least I'm safe, or I think I'm safe... at the moment. It's impossible to know what will happen next. I'm just glad I have an okay hiding place and supplies for a day or two. My day started normally enough. My dog was barking a bit more than usual, but I didn't pay very much attention to it because I had been running late for work. When I was about halfway to work a group of zombies appeared seemingly out of nowhere. They popped into the middle of the street and with no time to slow down I ran them over. I slowed down for long enough to turn the windshield wipers on and wait for the blood to be cleared from the windshield of my brand new truck before I stepped on the gas. Weaving around smaller cars who's scared owners had unsuccessfully tried to outrun the zombies I took the fastest way out of town turning my wipers up a notch as I ran over more zombies.
I figured I had enough supplies in my truck to last a day or two because I still hadn't completely unpacked it from my weekend hunting trip. I always pack plenty of extra food, but I needed somewhere to hide. The engineering firm that I work at is located in an abandoned mine just out of town that was converted to a workspace, I decided that that would be my best bet. It's barricaded and as close to impossible to break into as anything gets. I can warn everyone and lock us all in, I thought. It's the perfect solution completely infallible.
Not a good idea. As I approached the mine I saw the zombies guarding the entrance. Knowing that there was nowhere else I could go I rummaged around behind my seat grabbing my gun. I quickly scanned the road deciding on the best place to shoot from. Driving with my knees I lifted the gun, aiming carefully. When I reached my chosen point, a curve just after exiting a grove, I pulled the trigger.
I breathed a sigh of relief after locking the last door securely behind me. Now I was safe and could relax while planning out my next move with my coworkers. The zombie apocalypse was seeming pretty cool then. Killing zombies wasn't very different than hunting. Now everything would have been great if that had lasted longer than maybe five seconds. Of course my idiot self didn't recognize that the zombie guards were guarding something. Of course I didn't realize that the gate had been open meaning that there were already zombies inside and I had locked myself in with them. Of course when thinking about where to go I didn't think of the fact that my work was both less than a mile away and the closest human occupied place to a cemetery.
So yeah, you've probably realized what happened but I'll tell you anyway. I locked the last door, breathed my sigh of relief, and had my almost five seconds of feeling safe before zombies started appearing. I ran. I'm not even going to try to say I wasn't scared enough to pee my pants. Facing zombies is a lot different when your not in a truck big enough to run them over with like they're flies. So I ran to a supply closet that actually had a secret trap door to a staircase that led to a secret lower section of the mine, only accessible from secret entrances such as that one. I guess I thought that everyone else would be there and there wouldn't be any zombies. Let it suffice to say that that was my third bad idea of the day. As you might have guessed, there were more zombies at the other end, which is how I have come to be stuck in a supply closet between two groups of zombies.
Update: I just might have kind of dropped half the food and supplies that I brought so if you are reading this hopefully it is because this has befallen the same fate rather than because I am dead.
