Summer is never long enough

Butterflies dance in the summer's heat

Flittering about upon bloom and leaf

Beauty everlasting we want to believe

As a tidal wave of color washes over me

Subtle nuances enhance the show

A betrayal of emotions

I need to let go

Brandishing my shovel I plant some more

In denial that winter is what is in store
