Risen Above
"Do you know the new watch which was launched last week and is made by a countryside watchmaker and is claimed to be the most expensive watch of the world?" she asked her neighbour friend while both were chatting over a cup of tea in her own backyard. "Yes, I have. Crazy watchmaker ," said her friend in response with no excitement in her voice at all. It bothered her a little bit but she let it pass. She continued sipping tea out of her favourite mug. The outside of the mug read, "Rise above, believe and it will be yours."
"Tea is really good, have you put cinnamon in it?" asked her friend. Without waiting for the answer, she continued, " why have you put up so many quotes all around your house?"
"I like to be kept surrounded with positive thoughts all the time. They remind me of my dreams and make me realize that I can achieve them," she explained with a bounce in her voice.
"Your dreams?" her friend exclaimed and continued," You have a Federal job, a dear husband and a big house with big car. What else could one dream of having?" These words of her friend gave her a chance to visualize her dreams once more in a day, that could be seen in the sparkle of her eyes. With a deep breath she continued, " I want to be more than this."
"This?"
"Not in the terms of money but as a person, I want to rise above this mediocrity. I want to be remembered for the millennia to come, for something good that no one has done before. Mediocrity just survives and those who choose to live know this and they find a path to being alive and rise. And people below it never really exist because they have already been killed by the society ruled by the mediocre people. Philosophers, artists and inventors are the people who change the world and they become rich only in the later third of their lives but they are the one who know what it means to rise above the mediocrity. Money follows the creativity. Hard work can put you through the process where you get enlightened to be the creator."
"So, will you now tell me what your dream is?"
"I am not yet ready to be labelled 'crazy'.I will let you know when I would be. That would be the time when I will be really close to achieving that 'world changing' thing. It would be an honour to be called 'crazy', as everyone who had ever thought about bringing the change in the world had been labelled 'crazy' at once like that watchmaker, like Einstein, like Edison, like Steve Jobs, like Bill Gates.........
