"You know, in movies, the guy always looks at the girl when she's not looking, whether they're stargazing or moongazing." I grabbed my bottle of beer and sipped on it before I continued, ignoring his mocking laugh.
"Like, hello? They can stare at each other any time of the day. Why waste a great view?"
I drank the whole bottle down as I watched the twinkling stars that are probably dead for millions of years already. I suddenly realized how amazing stars are, adorning the night sky with their light that traveled farther than I could ever imagine. They still serve their purpose even after their death. I sighed. I wish I was a star.
We sat in silence as I drowned in my thoughts.
"The movies were right, for once," he muttered, breaking the silence. He chuckled after, and I gave him a curious look.
"Because you don't realize that you're more beautiful than the night sky you adore so much."
It was too cheesy for me that I choked on nothing. All the alcohol left my system in a flash.
I felt like a star, or the sky even, under his hypnotizing gaze.
"Y-You can watch the stars... i-instead of me..." I was rewarded instead with a heart-melting chuckle as a reply. I wondered, is this how stars feel every night?
