Poetry (revamped)
Poetry is written art. It is the expression of ideas and emotions in written word.
Here is a slight dilemma, in asking for the definition of Poetry, you are asking for the definition of art. Well, I shall try my best.
Art is emotion encapsulated into any sound, object, or word that portrays that emotion back to the recipient of the art. Art is absolutely worthless if nobody sees the point of it. If you do not make a connection with said piece of art, it is little more than a stack of material into which a human poured hours of time. Only when you make a connection with the art is it worth something; "this music speaks to me". This is what poetry is; a written form of art that is completely worthless unless the reader (and for that matter, the author) make some emotional connection to it.
