A True Love Story
*These two people met online and the little bits of text is them texting over the phone and this is the way I will be doing conversations in this story because I find it best for me to convey information
"He's a cute one," I said as I was scrolling through the discover page on Instagram. Since, I thought so, I direct messaged him and got a reply back instantly. He thought I was pretty and we continued talking. Eventually, we exchanged numbers and continued to talk for a couple of years.
Zane: I do not think I ever told you but, I really like your name
Hazel: Thank you and where do you live?
Zane: Colorado, but will be moving soon to your town
Hazel: Really, cannot wait to meet you
Zane: You doing anything interesting?
Hazel: Yeah, I am going rock climbing tomorrow
Zane: Be sure to tell me about it
Hazel: Can do, bye.
Zane: Bye
I was so excited to go rock climbing with my family, it was something I never thought I would be doing. We headed toward the nearby mountain, put on our gear, and started to climb. About fifty feet up, I lost my grip and fell. Everything went black and when I woke I was in a hospital. The doctor said I was paralyzed from the waist down and there was no chance of me walking again.
Zane: How was rock climbing?
Hazel: Not good.
Zane: Scary?
Hazel: No, I ended up in the hospital.
Zane: What happened and you okay?
Hazel: Lost my grip and fell. Now, paralyzed waist down.
Zane: Sorry, I will be moving there in a few months and I will take you out for dinner and maybe an adventure around town.
Hazel: Sound good, bye.
Zane: Bye
A few months later
Hazel: Bye, Mom
Mom: Be careful and be back by ten
Hazel: Okay
I slowly drag myself down the steps of our house and there is a lot. I have learned to do this because my legs are useless. Zane was waiting for me at the bottom of the steps with a flower. A single flower. He took the handles of my wheelchair and headed towards the restaurant. As we were eating, he apparently wanted to play 20 questions with me.
Zane: Favorite color?
Hazel: Lavender
Zane: Favorite dog breed?
Hazel: Mix between a German Shepard and a Husky. I have always wanted one, but never got one.
Zane: I will make you a promise. If you walk, I get you you puppy.
Hazel: Deal, but I do not know if am able.
Zane: You can do anything. Something you miss doing?
Hazel: Swinging, no one would ever take me because I need help in order to swing.
Zane: Neat.
We continued with out dinner and afterwards we went on a walk. The walk ended in a park.
Hazel: What are we doing here?
Zane: What you wanted, to swing.
Hazel: Honestly. Thank you.
Zane: No problem.
*He gently picks me up out off my wheelchair and places me on the swing. He gives me a push and hops on his own swing.
Zane: You seem to be having fun.
Hazel: The most fun I have had in a while.
We swing for another hour or so and then walk around the park. Before we know it, it was getting dark and I had to be home. He carried me up my steps and we told my parents that he was a friend who just moved here. Neither of us wanted them to know. He ran back down and grabbed my wheelchair. He secretly gave me a kiss and headed on his way. We continued to text and go out. Eventually, we were both twenty and decided to move out to a new place together.
Zane: What about this one?
Hazel: I love it, but are the steps?
Zane: Yes, but not many and I can help you.
Hazel: Okay, lets get it.
We ended up buying the house and moving all our stuff in. Zane would carry me up and down the steps. We were both photographers, so we rarely left each other. Everyday we would wake up at ten and get started with our day. And everyday, he would make me breakfast. One day I woke at 9:15 and walked (yes, walked not dragged) down to the kitchen and made breakfast. Around 9:55 I got really tired and sat on the kitchen floor and I could hear his alarm going off. Then, I could hear his footsteps on steps.
Zane: What are you doing?
Hazel: Making you breakfast.
*As he sits on the floor next to me
Hazel: Can I have my puppy?
Zane: Yes, why are you on the floor?
Hazel: Lost my strength to stand
Zane: Thank you for breakfast. Should I make the usual coffee and tea?
Hazel: Sure, and could you help me to the table?
Zane: Of course
He gently picked me up and placed me at the table. We ate breakfast and got dressed to go out. He was taking me to get my puppy he promised me. At the shelter, there was a little German Shepard/Husky mix with beautiful blue eyes. She was perfect and we ended up taking her home. Her name was London and she was excited to have a home.
Zane: You happy?
Hazel: Yes, thank you.
Zane: No problem, you still able to walk.
Hazel: Yes, come here.
*I outstretch my hands and he takes them. I slowly begin to walk
Zane: Amazing.
Hazel: Thanks
For the next few years they were practicing walking and sharing laughs with London. Eventually, Hazel was able to walk fully and her life was back to normal. She walked everyday with Zane and London. Love can truly fix anything.
