A Million Things
You are a million things.
You are strong and willful,
a stone unmoving and set
You are great and influencing,
a gust of wind, pushing and leading
But you are not perfect.
For even stones erode
chipping away with lapsing time
No, you are not perfect.
Because even wind break,
slows its pace, when traveling over a rocky road
You are a vast sea,
deep, confounding, and quite alluring
You are beautiful, kind, and intelligent
a soul like yours so different, my favorite
But you are not perfect.
Because the ocean swallows, drags, and traps
Lives have been lost, mysteriously
with covered up tracks
Believe me when I say, you are far from perfect.
Because that soul of yours resides in a man. Our species is complex and arrogant
But always
always learning,
and growing
You are mine,
And I am yours.
But we are nowhere near perfect
even when we seem like it,
even when time stops when my thoughts are filled with you
even when my lungs fill with air
But still,
I find myself gasping for a breath when I speak to you
But most importantly,
You are you
And in the most imperfect way,
You are perfect
You are a million things.
And I love them all.
