Lord of the Toddlers

It's 9 o'clock in the morning and I hear a shrill scream followed by a loud thud. Suddenly, the lights go out and then on again, "Who's doing that?" I say. I hear maniacal laughter as something flies over my head, grazing my scalp. Tucked away in the corner of the room, someone is crying but I can't reach them without tripping over the debris scattered about the floor. Voices shouting nonsense echo from every corner of the room and I can't catch a single thought.

I put my head in my hands and think, "Just another morning at daycare."
