The Dinning Room
He made us stop before he opened the doors to the dining room in such a dramatic way. There was no one in the dining room but there was a bunch of tables with chairs. I thought that was kind of weird. I followed the tour guide as he led us to a table. On which there were place cards and a beautiful table setting. I quietly found my spot. I was seated at the very end of the table next to Kaitlin and Saphina. He asked if we were comfortable and we all just nodded. Then he left, I wanted to ask Kaitlin what was for dinner because unlike me she actually listened to what he had said. Almost in sync we all picked up our napkins and put them on our laps. I thought this was funny so I started to laugh under my breath. I think Kaitlin and Ashley saw me laugh because they did too.
I also wondered where everyone else was if there’d be anyone else joining us. No one else joined us. It was just us eight girls sitting there staring at each other wanting to say stuff but not quite sure what to say. The food finally came! It was a wonderfully delicious seven-course meal. I was very glad for that because I was starving. During the meal very little was said. When the dessert came out we were all stuffed but we still wanted to try it. The dessert was Mississippi mud pie, I loved it mainly be sue of the chocolate. Well come on on who doesn't love chocolate. After we were done, the tour guide came back and took us to our room. By the time we got back to the room it was 7:30, which meant an hour, until bedtime which left no time to explore.
I decided to ask Saphina if she'd seen the open the door. She shot me a scared look and said " Yes I did. I thought I was the only one who saw it." Oh good so I'm not the only one who saw it but a why did she look scared. Did she see something I did not. Nothing more was said between us the whole night.
The hour passed by very slowly most of us were silent, probably thinking about their families. I personally couldn't bear the silence. I had the need to talk. My mind was going crazy with all the possible things that could be going on here. I sat on my bed, and called Ashley and Kaitlin over to sit by me. We talked the whole hour mainly about our families and who we missed. “I'm pretty sure not even our parents know where we are.” I said to them.
When the clock finally said 8:30 we all went to our beds and the lights automatically turned off. I laid there in bed awake for probably a couple of hours worrying about my family. At first I thought about my mom and dad. I missed their sweet kisses and there lovely faces watching me as I fell asleep knowing that they were close by. Next I thought about my brother and sister. I think I cried a little when I thought about them. The long goodnights and us yelling at each other to be quite as we all fell asleep. I wish that happened here, it was just way to quite. Then I thought about my "babies" and how I missed their warm furry bodies up against my back as I tried to fall a sleep. Sometimes I swear they tried to push me off the bed but who can blame them they are dogs and just a little spoiled. The more I thought about my family the more I missed them. A little bit of me felt jealous of Ashley and Kaitlin at least they had part of their family with them.
Once I finally fell asleep it felt like minutes before it was time to get up. I dreaded getting up so badly but I knew I had to. Today might be the day I find out something. I was the first one awake which wasn't unusual for me. I liked to wake up early. My mom always said " If you start your day early you'll get a head start on life"
Usually I would complain and say something like " My bed will miss me if I get up right now,” but then I still got out of bed anyways. I really missed those days.
After thinking about this, I laid in bed waiting for the others to wake up. Thank goodness it wasn't too long before they all started to wake up. Once we were all awake and ready for the day, we had to wait for someone to take us to the dinning room. I still didn't understand why. They might have wanted to keep an eye on us. “So we didn't go somewhere we are not supposed to?” I thought.
To me it felt like along time before we heard a knock on the door. To my surprise everyone jumped when we heard the knock. When we opened the door instead of seeing the guide that we had last night, it was a girl not much older than us. She introduced her self "Hi my name is Sarah and I'm so happy to meet you all. Today's breakfast will be different then last night’s meal. You will now see more of your class mates" I thought to myself, oh good at least we are not alone, " you guys will be sitting at the same table you guys sat at last night, oh well look at the time I need to get you guys down there before the principle begins her morning announcements. "
Slightly to myself, I sighed, announcements happened everyday back at my old school. Nobody ever listened to them, so most of the time they were useless, like these probably could be too. On the other hand who knows what's really going on here, so they could be useful in someway.
As we were walking I could see sadness or homesick look on their faces. We have only been here a few days and most of us already miss home. I found out later that night that some of the girls in my room had never been away from home for more then one night and some not at all. I felt really bad for them but what could I do, I felt the same way. Anyways I needed to keep my head straight and finally figure out what's going on here and why they would not tell us.
All of a sudden our group stopped, I guess we were at the dining hall. I must have been lost in my thoughts because today's trip felt shorter then the other night. Sarah was talking to someone in front of the big door. Her face seemed worried, in a scared way. From where I was at I could nit make out what she was saying, but she stopped talking and turned to us saying “Are you guys ready to go in? As we go in follow me to your table, then find your place tag, these tags are only temporary, it's just so we can get you guys!!” She said this with away too cheery attitude, it bothered me way too much. As the big door opened, we started to see other faces. I grabbed Ashley’s handed, she jumped little but then she just smiled. We walked in and followed Sarah, as we were walking it was hard not to notice that everyone was sitting in an eerie silence with theses huge smiles on their faces, just staring back at you.
We finally made it to the table, but that walks to the table felt like one of the creepiest walks ever. I was glad to sit down and finally get some food. The food came out but before we could eat, we were told to stand. As we stood the Principle walked in, she went to the front of the room. The minute she sat down, we all sat down. She stood up again and began the morning announcements. I didn’t pay much attention because all I could think of was the food. We were finally allowed to eat and I was glad, food always reminds me of home. After the meal was done we were excused table by table, back to our rooms. It felt like a long time before we were able to leave.
On the way back to the room I noticed something off in the corner a door, maybe. I wanted to go investigate, but how could I get a way? I figured when she was not looking I would go or maybe later today when we were supposed to be on a break. Well that’s exactly what happened. Later on a break, I decided to wander around.
I was walking through a hallway, and again I noticed a door off in the corner of a room. It was a small door it looked like the rest, but there was something different about it. I was almost attracted to it, kind of like I was being pulled in. The closer I got to the door, I could see that it had started to glow. I reached out and to turn the doorknob. The closer I got the more the glow enveloped me.
I heard a noise from behind me and turned around. When I turned back the door was gone. I reached out and touched the wall, where the door was. There was nothing. Not a ridge or a crack. I swear I saw something. In fact I know I saw something. Maybe I didn't, I could just be tired. I did have a long day. I think I'll go back to my room before the others get suspicious of where I have been.
Walking down the hallway, I can't help to wander what could be behind that door, why did it disappear, Why did it appear. I guess thats the bigger question here. Maybe there are more of them. Running my fingers my along the wall, as I continue to walk to my room. Hoping that the door would reappear randomly, proving that I was not crazy. seeing something strange just once, your mind was probally playing tricks on you. See it twice or more and you know for sure you are not going slightly insane. Though with how strange this place feels I would not be surpised if I end up slightly insane when I get out of here.
" Where have you been?" I heard a voice from up head say. It was Sarah of course. " we have been worried about you. This is a very large and old castle and we do not want you to get lost within the first few weeks of beinging here."
" Well um.. I've been... I had to go to the bathroom. yea. I was just taking my time getting back. You know. Enjoying the history of this castle"
"Well you can enjoying the history tomarrow when we show the other wings of the castle. Better toghter then alone. As the founder always say and is the motoe of this school. Now lets get you back to your room."She walked behinded and with hand on the shoulder started to walk. I swear I saw her look over her shpulder several times as we were walking. But you know I may be going crazy so knows if I really saw it.
