lost in the tide

i died in the ocean

when i was 12

my brother moved on

fast

or faster than i thought

he should've.

my father never forgot

but he tried.

tried to drown himself

in a different kind of

liquid.

my mother still remembers.

she sees my face when

she stares out

at the seam where

ocean meets sky.
