Hospital
Keeping up with the man of the hour was often impossible, he was always here and there, reports of him messing things up and blowing cars up came in nearly daily. Was a shame to be in love with a man like that, always putting himself in death's path just to go head on against him. Yet one single man was in love with him to the point that he knew better. Mandrew Johnson, a poor soul who had hit on and tried to get his best friend to just be gay for one night.
Always been a no however.
Yet tonight it seemed his best friend went a little too far.
"I've warned you!" Drew yelled, quietly and in a "controlled" tone.
"I don't need you scolding me too like I'm a little boy again." Answered the male laying in his own blood in a hospital bed. Having just been pulled and dragged back to the bed. It annoyed the man laying within the bed, his blood matted hair plastered to his face.
Heck some of the blood isn't even his.
"I understand that but please, Xander, we can't have you of all people dying on us." Setting a hand on the man's shoulder, a tender squeeze.
Xander Xiamoungkhoun, a hard headed male, the one of whom Mandrew grew to adore in the years they have known each other. He was however always there to get Xander out of death's way once he was about to finish cutting the man down, killed him inside yet he knew better than to get too attached. Some day this man was going to die however when, how and where, also before who was all unknown, least not to the Goddess to this sick world. She knew just how, when, twisting the world to her liking and how she finds it fit.
"Are the kids alright?" The question had Drew surprised and just stared at the male lying in the bed, holding his side before doctors had pulled him away and pushed him out of the room. He had wanted to answer yes but he couldn't get them out. He knew Xander had been taking care of two kids though he didn't expect him to care for them.
With Mandrew being removed from the room like he had been it nearly gave Xander a heart attack as he begun to panic for the well being of the children. Had very much been a rocky start for him and them but all three had grown to play stupid board games with each other, Matthew was learning how to play chess, Winifred was taking up, well not really too much, she was learning things for school, having only been 5 years old she couldn't do much but she loved to watch the two play chess and has even sat down to learn a little but it never fully stuck for her.
Sure Xander was a pain in the rear and made life hard for a lot of people even those close to him, sorry Mandrew, he had cared about them all with everything. He hated being a burden to the male, for years he has known his feelings towards him, well for the last 3 years at least, got them into a real nasty fight but afterwards. Somehow somewhere they made up by saving the other's butt. They were family, they had to stay family however unlike Mandrew, Xander was every bit straight, he may not have dated anyone but he was into women, didn't have him hate Mandrew though, he loved his friend all the same.
In the time being Xander had gotten help by the doctors as Mandrew, unhappily, headed back towards the waiting room, guards placed all around the building as a lot of the family's stronger members were here in the open.
"How is he doing?" A young boy, about 5 foot tall or so stood up and came running. Matthew Asra, his face showed his worry yet he seemed to refuse to let it be in his voice. He learned far too much from Xander in the few months they have been living together.
"Well he asked about you two however before I could answer I was dragged out of the room." Mandrew's head was tilted back and looked towards the way he came from before looking back down at the boy, a little girl coming up beside him and went to latch onto Mandrew's leg, she was still tiny for her age honestly.
"He is alive still, from what I saw with my own medical knowledge he should be fine, if not I'll give you both guns and you are free to shot me." Having paused for a moment and setting a hand on Winifred's head. "I'll make sure the one you have doesn't have much of a kick and some other adult helps hold you with it." It seemed to have her pout.
"Dre is good though." She held on tighter.
Had Mandrew smile faintly before looking up towards an old man sitting with a little girl asleep on his lap, one quick look showed her parents had both ran off somewhere.
"They ran off to make her another sibling?" He joked and yet the hard look within the elder man's eyes told him to watching his mouth, something he was sure to do now. Yet speaking of the two they had soon enough walked in, Lucent. Pretty sure the blood on his shirt was anyone but his.
"Rudolph has him in for a "talking". I sent Mel home, I'll take Kacey with and bring her back home." He strolled over towards the elder man and gently took his child up into his arms, Smiling faintly down at the small child as she nuzzled tiredly into him. Having stirred awake some.
"Papa?" She murmured. Rubbing her eyes but had been snuggled into his arms by him.
"I'm bringing you to mama so you both can rest." Lucent smiled tenderly at the small child before had nodded towards Marty. He was the family's leader, took care of everyone, was there for everyone, saw them as his children other than those he grew up with, those that he saw more as siblings. It was normal, this family was close to one another with everyone.
"Stay with them and rest as well."
With that Mandrew watched a good friend leave with his child after the leader's words, holding her close while he took her out of the hospital. Left a few others there, some of the main ones who were there in the start had headed out to hunt down the men who ended up doing this to Xander this time.
"Alright kids, let's take you two back as well, you can run wild and destroy Xander's home!" Mandrew grinned darkly, least Winifred seemed happy about the idea but then settled down and pouted.
"But..." She paused with Mandrew shaking his head and ruffling her raven colored locks.
"We well come see him right away in the morning, if any thing changes someone will let us know right away." Reassuring the child in what way he could once he knelt down to her height. Well down lower, not like he could get to her height until she grew taller. The child grabbed his hands and held on tight as Matthew looked around a little awkwardly.
"As long as we come back as soon as possible." He had agreed to.
With that Mandrew took the two home, having promised to bring them back right away in the morning for the three to see one another and for Xander to know personally that the children he did his best to protect.
