I Am Going to Stir the Pot
Okay, people.
Now, I get that you want to honor the people who were killed in the school shootings. I get that. this isn't about that. This is about the people who are saying that they are protesting school shootings.
Wait a minute here...
does anyone want school shootings?
and the school shooters sure don't care what you think.
so who are y'all protesting to?
I get memorials.
honoring the dead.
I get it. I wrote a card too, okay? it had an Emily Dickenson poem on it, something about the power of free will.
but now I can't help to think
that maybe "freedom of speech" is being a little abused here.
or is this just a front to hide behind
to get out of class?
and I know that some
maybe all
of the people out there were legit.
but I know for sure that at least five of y'all
couldn't care less about those dead kids.
and those politicians
who are using these "protesters" as political shields against the media
pushing their own ideas right down those kid's throats
then having them hairball it back up to the delight and admiration of those around them, while some underhanded lawmaker sits in the corner and gives himself a good long pat on the back.
now, I'm not saying this to offend anyone, and I am not trying to point fingers or just toss this off like it never happened.
it did happen.
and now it's time to start owning up to it.
don't let yourselves be puppets of those around you
whether it's peers saying to go join the march
or a camera crew wedged in your face, asking what you think.
and those of you who were legit
thank you
but please
this was a tragedy
and it needs to be remembered
but
this is not the way to do it.
