Static- Movie Night.
Telephone rings.
‘Hello.’
‘Hello!?’
‘Who is this?’
‘If this is some kind of prank, or some joke it’s not funny.’
Dev holds the phone and her hands begin to shake. Then she hears a static noise come through the earpiece of the phone. Then silence. She hangs up. And heads to the living room.
Sam~ Who was that? (Sam asks with a lot of concern).
Dey~ Beats me.
Sam~ That’s really odd.
Dey~ Yeah. It really is.
Sam moves her feet off the couch and makes room for Dey. Sam reaches for the remote and asks Dey what she wants to watch.
Dey~ I’m not really in the mood to watch any film right now.
Sam~ (Stares at Dey with a worried look in her eyes) Really? Not even The Extraordinary League?
Dey~ Fine. You know I can’t say no to that movie. (Dey sighs and stretches while she waits for Sam to play the Tape).
Sam grabs the remote control from the T.V. stand, and before going back to the couch places the tape in the Kuram DVD/VHS VCR recorder.
Dey waits patiently in excitement for the movie to start. Sam presses play and sits back on the couch.
The movie starts and Dey starts to yawn. Sam snaps her fingers.
Dey~ What was that for?
Sam~ Don’t fall asleep.
Dey~ I...(yawns)..am wide awake. (Uses her fingers to force her eyes to stay open).
Sam~ (Laughs) Oh my goodness. Maybe you just need a cold drink. I’ll be right back.
Dey~ Could you also bring me a bowl of popcorn?
Sam~ Yeah. Sure.
Dey~ Thanks. You’re the best.
While Sam is in the kitchen, Dey asks if she should pause the movie.
Sam~ That’s all right. Don’t pause it. I’ve seen this movie like only a bajillion times.
Dey waits for the first scene of the movie. She’s seen this movie before, too. But this time there’s something not right with the film. Dey rises to her feet. She walks over to the T.V. For some strange reason there’s no sound coming from the audio, or picture showing on the screen.
She takes a glance at the T.V. And for a brief second she thinks she spotted an image flicker across the screen. What was that?
Dey~ Sam?
Dey calls for Sam. There’s no response.
She walks over to the kitchen. With each step that she takes her heart beats faster, faster, & faster. More rapid with each passing minute.
Dey heads into the kitchen. She spots Sam standing by the sink. Dey sees the water running from the tap. She closes it. When she looks at Sam, she can’t believe her eyes. She yells out loud. Dey nearly loses her balance, almost falling to the floor.
Where did Sam’s entire face go?
Dey sobs and runs to the living room. She stops in front of the T.V. screen. Something is staring at her. Dey moves closer to the T.V. and gazes deeply at the screen. Then an image of Sam’s face appears on the screen. Dey falls back and lands on the carpet.
She closes her eyes. This feels like a nightmare. Dey opens her eyes and faceless Sam is now right in front of her. Dey screams and panicks. She shakes her head and tries to run away from Sam.
The face on the screen smiles as faceless Sam drags Dey into the T.V.
Dey tries to kick her way free. Nothing works. Then the T.V. goes black. And a figure of a hand hits the screen from the inside of the T.V. Then it vanishes.
