You can rewrite an old fairytale modern day, or make up your own fairytale including modern day magic. What are vampires up to these days? What about mermaids? Witches? You get the picture.

There was once a boy who was so very gifted that with a wave of his left pen the landscape would shift; and again at his will, he had only to breathe its existence, and on this very parcel a village would stand— like no other: a little Tenochtitlan, somewhat Baroque, with a sense of Sputnik, and Pluto evoked— then within this Architecture, he soon saw to it, every provision as deemed fit be added to it, so that he might populate this scape with creatures he’d hauled from a cupboard in the back and brought in his mind to fruition... and then he semi opened the book to the public... so that they too might be characters in it... this nouvelle gilded fairytale.
