A Nostalgic Poem (in metaphor or simile)
Watching children run through sprinklers, I was struck by nostalgia. Write a poem about your childhood or something sweetly nostalgic, but use a metaphor or simile that particularly relates to it. For example, the children I was watching said the water looked like "silver dolphins" (I'll add my example poem).
No more than 60 words. Nostalgia can be sweet, but often short.
The Flower Children
Fingertips of sunlight touch the buds
To wake them from their slumber.
They rise from their patches of soil,
Stretching their green limbs up towards the sky
As if they're acceping a hug from the morning light.
Invigorated, they prance over to the garden
Where they rejoice in the company of their friends,
Dancing in a beautiful display of colors.
