The Moon
It seems so out of reach and far
But we’ve been there before
We can be out among the stars
If someone would just open the door
About three days to get there
A couple billion to set up camp
There’ll be plenty of space to spare
And a little to revamp
The days there are 29 of ours
And there’s no shield from solar wind
It’ll be fought over by the powers
While the population is thinned
At first, there will be scientists
Conducting many different tests
This will be the quietest
Until more are sent on the quest
Entrepreneurs will show up next
To profit from the boom
Build up the annex
And lessen up the gloom
Two people will soon create
The first person not native to Earth
Wiping clean the cultural slate
Leading to a different worth
This new group of people
Will form their own identity
And they will be the sequel
Of those seeking serenity
But those back home won’t like that
They won’t understand the rationale
There’ll probably be a spat
But Earth will lose its morale
This new nation will be its own
And it’ll have its own structures
Its creation will be a milestone
A new age it will usher
But who’ll take the first step
In the plan to change the world?
“I’ll do it,” she says, “Yep!”
And her plan unfurled
With determination in her eyes
And hope in her heart
She’ll bring the human race to new highs
And everyone will be a part
