vegetable, though

Granma did well to

roast each morsel 

of family folklore,

and Mama for her 

part did, too, to do

what she could to

salvage leftovers for

those lunch heroes,

and now, it's my turn

to learn the secret

recipes lest I go to bed 

hungry without supper
