“Beaver Pasties” Opens
“I have an amazing idea!” C.B. the Beaver thought one day. “I will open a bakery...called “Beaver Pasties”! I will sell the best cakes, breads, pies, cookies and pastries in town!” She took her little wooden purse with her and scurried off and started building a dam. Not just any dam...her bakery! After she was finished, she put up a sign that said “Beaver Pasties, best goods in town”. Other animals smelled the goods and came down to her bakery and bought everything. One skunk bought five loaves of bread. A little bird bought a frosted cookie. A chipmunk and a squirrel bought a box of donuts, and a group of bunnies bought carrot cake. By the end of the day, C.B. had at least seventy five dollars and ninety nine cents. She bought some tables and chairs and a little fan for the customers, and with the rest of her money, she bought more ingredients. Finally, she had ten dollars. She scurried up to her room and placed it in her little wooden beaver piggy bank herself. “Tomorrow,” she thought, “I’ll use this money to buy myself some pastries myself. From another bakery.” She put down her beaver piggy bank, said her prayers, and laid down and rested for the next busy day.
Then, the next day, her older sister, J.B., aka Hedgy, came around. “Hiya!” She said, putting a chubby little paw to wave at C.B. happily. “What do you want, J.B., to order?” C.B asked kindly. “Well,” started J.B. in this cowboy voice, “I’d like eight donuts, three cookies, two Irish soda breads, thirteen pies, and a little bit of everything else!” C.B. nodded and gave her sister her order. As J.B. started to hand C.B. a twenty, more people gathered up. “Thanks, J.B.!” C.B. replied. She took the customers order, made the pastries, closed up "Beaver Pasties" early, and went to go to another bakery.
