The Discovery
We're going back in time to my earliest memory with this, and I know this challenge discounts discoveries of money, but, at the time I made the discovery I didn't know what money was.
I reckon I was about three or four years old at the time and I was outside the house just wandering aimlessly when I came upon a brown envelope just lying, unopened, on the ground.
My curiosity was aroused so I leant down and picked it up, wondering what this mysterious treasure might be. I inspected it, turning it over in my hand. It had writing on it but I couldn't read, but I did notice it had holes punched into one end.
I didn't know it at the time, but it was someone's wage packet and was full of cash.
As I closely inspected my treasure, the thought hit me that I should take it to Mummy, but, as I turned to head back home a strange woman who I'd never seen before snatched it from my hands and walked quickly off.
I just stood there, whimpering, and feeling slightly violated. It was my treasure, go find your own!
So I headed home with tears flooding down my face and told my mother everything that had happened. Which of course resulted in a slap for getting my shoes dirty.
