Leaf and the Acorn
First leaf of autumn
— and a
Green acorn
Wasn’t looking…
They just came to me
One Fell
One Floated
I look around
— Red Rock
This land was birthed
— in water
A mighty oak
— in such a small thing
A great mountain
— begun
with a handful of dirt
Four small stones
Four directions
Four races of the
— earth
all this
— built
from a cell
We come —
The Home Maker
The Village Creator
And I see her
— My Sister in the World
And I think:
Being what you are may be hard
It’s still easier than being what you’re not
— for
There is a village
— inside of her
A message
A guide
A trust that —
All This will
— serve
That
(in time)
The timing is always
— right
One green acorn seed
— infinite trust
She will fall
She will not fail
Bruised
— never broken
She is the Creator
— and the Created
From this darkness
— she will bring
Light
In water
— and
Blood
Tears
— nights alone
a child
an idea
a new way of life
Will be born
Love may be drowning
— but still
It has lived
This great mountain
— from that
Handful of dirt
This great tree
— from that tiny acorn
She is the eagle
— though there’s blood on her feathers
Still they float
They Fly…
Like a Leaf
Crawl now
— sweet angel
Cry your tears
For tomorrow
— will reveal
The glory inside you
Be patient
Have faith
— as I so often tell
myself
and we will meet each other
and we will smile
We’ll fall
We’ll not fail
Sister
Friend
All the time we spent
These wee hours
All this must pass
As we remember how —
To build a New World
From these smallest of things
