tears
it has been three days since the end,
and i have cried all the tears i could muster.
i choke back sobs under my blanket,
heaving with the realization that you are no longer mine.
i want to beg on my hands and knees,
tell you that this can work,
because it has always worked.
i was going to marry you in the spring,
beneath oak trees and Spanish moss.
childhood sweethearts turned beautiful family.
four cats and a quaint dollhouse on a hill.
i wish the earth stopped spinning
so i could catch my breath.
