Capital G or small g?
I think it is unfair to consider to use of male pronouns to be sexist when referring to God.
Contemplate that the questioner capitalized the name of God. Not "a god" or some other placeholder phrase that insinuates inclusiveness of all ideologies (supreme being, creator, etc.)
I am an exception, as I use the word God to refer to the great unknown, and not as an acknowledgment of any scripture. That being said, when I hear others use the word God, I presume they mean a scripture God, traditionally referred to as a father. I am comfortable inventing my own belief – others are not. They rely on books that have pre-determined the words they use.
By all means, have your god be a woman, or a genderless angel-thing, or an altogether traitless mist or essence. A greater diversity in god references might help undermine the arrogance with which people judge each other needlessly.
