Her

She used to use products like Jergens lotion or Ponds cold cream. Like every woman of the Fifties. They were thick and pungent.

She tried dippity doo for her thick wavy hair.

She would dye her hair only a couple of times that I remember.

Mahogany....that's what she called the color.

Her eyelash curler was teal and silver.

I would watch her pinch her lashes up then add mascara.

It sits in my cabinet.

I am afraid to use it.

She loved Chanel no. 5.and Shalimar.

Shalimar came in a pretty round bottle with a pointed little glass stopper.

I wanted to be like her. I climbed up the chest drawers to reach the Shalimar. The bottle tipped. Pink, fragrant liquid spread out over the top of the dresser.

It was all gone....just like her.
