Word Without End
Read to me
whatever overlay
you'd like
to see
above the
imagery
of this whole
world worn cemetery
that spans our
concept of
eternity
...
we won't remember
the words as much
as that picture
of our many
laid out
side by side
interlaced
by the roots
that tie
all of humanity
back
to us
...
atoms on the
cusp when the
almighty force was
bored playing in
its very dust,
the fingers caked
in mustard flakes,
the eyes gone wild
like swirling lakes,
voids that dragged
odd sailors in
who never told
their next of kin
that they'd be out
fishing so late...
...our beaten Lord
has sealed their fate
...
Read to me,
lay it all down...
...for long lost soldiers
underground,
and one's in wait of
being found...
read words in danger
of being drowned,
pour life in bones,
and take them home
upon the wings that
once were bound
...
Epoch-ally and biblic-ally
we knew it all... Together
...didn't we... ?
the bindings tightening
mummified like gloves
from a Sphinx so oddly
reminiscent of the kitchen
sink we tossed and
squirmed within...
these body bags
we dragged on back
asking our souls
to keep...
as we conned
our mired
selves
to sleep
...
