Selfish love.
You saw her eyes through a window,
And walking in you felt her soul,
And selfishly you thought,
Maybe this girl could make me whole,
So you started throwing pebbles,
Begging her to let you in,
Until the signs of your affection,
Appeared as bruises on her skin,
But what you’d failed to notice,
When she finally let you in that night,
Was that her heart was made of gold,
And you failed to ever treat it right,
It’s like you wanted all her qualities,
All of her you wished to be,
You wanted her life to make yours better,
And her perfect personality,
So you decided to tear her life down,
Until she felt purposeless and small,
But now I know you realize,
You never deserved her love at all,
Since you still beg for her forgiveness,
For the shattered glass left on the floor,
But the saddest truth of all is,
You still think you’re owed much more.
