I'm a little birdy...
My wife and I listen to a little birdy outside our living room window everyday. What's unusual about this birdy is that it chirps all day around the yard, and then sits in its nest right outside our window and chirps all night - 24 hours a day. We wonder if it ever sleeps.
Imagine you are the little birdy and write a short story or poem about why you sing all day and night.
No limit on entries or words.
Empty Nest
Near my nestled perch
I sip of sunlight’s lemonade
To seraphim, I chirp:
“Angels, wake and guard from prey”
Tucked beneath my feathers
Fragile life, I guard with mine
Milk moon masks, my eyes,
I swallow night as though divine
Slumber shall not know me
Sleep, I’ll find, when at my breast
Their heartbeats, chirps I’d echoed,
Fade with me, ’top empty nest
