To: Romanticized sad girls From: A romanticized sad girl
You put me in your words
and paint me like a child.
Silently suffering alone,
talking to the stars
wondering what I did wrong.
How hard it must be for you to write,
when the only thing that comes to mind
is the image of a gloomy girl,
covered by the clouds,
stained with her own blood,
as her soul cries out beneath her.
But,
what you don’t know is the quality of my strength.
The things I’ve been through
and the complicated circumstances that surround them.
I am guided by the stories my grandparents told me
and the secrets my family keeps close.
I am not here to be monetized.
My pain is not here to be sold.
