“Dear Newcomer”
Nobody understands, nobody knows what it takes to become an angel; let alone one of the Archangels. Chosen for their sacrifice or great deeds, nobody really knows, but I do know that we all serve one being. Someone or something, who’s wrapped up behind so many mysteries that we don’t even know what’s true and what’s false. Yet we’re supposed to do whatever is demanded of us: protecting the humans, guiding lost souls, condemning the wicked; you name it, we do it. We don’t have much of a choice.
There’s also many types and classes of angels: there’s the Seraphim, or “burning ones”, they serve as the careatakers of the mysterious being and shout his praises; Cherubim, who look freakish with four faces and have the body of a lion. They guard the way to the Garden of Eden. The Thrones are considered our elders and are celestial beings that have become the symbols of justice and authority; there is also twenty-four of the old geezers.
Next are the Dominions who govern all of the other angels and spirits. You can tell who they are by looking at their scepter or sword. It’ll have an orb of light attached somewhere. The Virtues follow after, they perform the signs a human may need to follow a certain path, or a miracle to keep the faith going. The Powers are by far the scariest. They keep the cosmos in order and will cast evil spirits to some of the most unmentionable places. They look like warriors and wield both offensive and defensive weapons.
Our last group of angels are interesting: The Principalities have the boring job. They guide and protect nations, groups of people or institutions like a church, temple or another similar place of worship. I had one as my educator once, and let me tell you, I’d rather spend a day in Hell than listen to one’s dithering. Then there’s the Archangels, like myself. We are the guardian angels of nations and countries, including all the old boring political stuff, military matters, commerce and trade. It’s almost as boring as the Principalities’s job, but thankfully there’s at least seven of us, so it shouldn’t be too bad...The Angels are separated into two groups: the envoys and the personal guardians. Each one does just as the job entails, so nothing too much for a lower-ranking celestial being.
Anyway, I hope this has helped you learn the ranking system of our little place here in Heaven. As a new angel yourself, don’t hesitate to ask any questions. As always, these rankings are so you can become more than just an angel, if you choose to be. Thanks for ascending to Heaven and hope to see you soon!
Sincerely,
Gabriel
