Down it Comes: Extended
“Rapunzel, Rapunzel,” the knight cried. “Let down your hair!”
“Anything for you, handsome,” Rapunzel replied. She set to unbraiding her very, very, long hair. The knight waited patiently. After two hours, she called down: “I’m done!”
“Great!” The knight said. He paused expectantly. When no waterfall of golden locks tumbled out the window, he added, “can you toss your hair down here?”
“Whatever for? It’ll get dirty.”
“So I can visit you, of course.”
“Oh! Silly me. I’ll do that right away.” Down came the hair. The knight dutifully grabbed it and began to climb. Surprised at the sudden weight, Rapunzel screeched as she was dragged out the window. The knight landed on his butt as Rapunzel crashed next to him. She did not survive the fall.
“Oh dear,” the knight said.
