I dare you
I dare you to be quiet. Really quiet. Where you can hear the birds. The wind. The leaves. Your breath. Hear life again and not the illusion.
I dare you to do something you love. That makes your soul smile. Even if you are ‘rusty’. Forget about it being silly. Because how can love be silly. I dare you to give yourself opportunity, to find out what you love.
I dare you to watch something different. Not a sitcom, or a rom-com. But a documentary. I dare you to spend the evening learning something new. I dare you to stretch your mind.
I dare you to write. A poem. A story. Your feelings. Your day. Your thoughts. Even a symbol. I dare you to let the pen take control, and watch as your ego becomes quieter, as the ink flows across the page, as your authenticity creeps through.
I dare you to question where the insects are. You remember there being more bees’ other years. You don’t see many round your flowers now. Less flies around bins in this muggy weather. Less batting at wasps. Even less ants around the ice cream blob my toddler dropped in the garden yesterday. I dare you to research the point of these animals. I dare you to follow your enquiries.
I dare you to create something. To get up off the couch and find whatever. Just create. Make something beautiful. Whether its with leaves and stones and flowers. Create a natural mandala. Or use your toddlers colouring book. Because who gives a fuck.
I dare you to buy something vegan just because you might like it! When you’re in the shops, why not, do something you may not be used to doing.
I dare you to walk into a library. Into a world of newfound knowledge and wisdom, right at your fingertips, for free. I dare you to read a physical book, with that cup of tea or coffee, turning the thin, musty paper with your fingertips. Not a phone in sight. Immerse yourself in a tale.
I dare you to take a detour on your way home from work today. Notice yourself rushing, and think, for what? I dare you to go sit on a hill and watch the sunset. You can catch up on the show another time.
I dare you to wake up before everyone else. You can catch up on sleep later. This time of year, is wonderful to do it. Feel how still and quiet everything is, the sun is already up and loud at 4am. Yet not a soul has stirred for the rush of his routine. Sit there. Feel that different energy. It is beautiful.
I dare you to grow something. Strawberries. Corn. Wildflowers. For goodness sake, chuck some seeds out the window as you drive in a protest of lovable rebellion.
I dare you to pray. To ask. To receive. I dare you to not understand it all. I dare you to be okay with that.
I dare you to make your purpose known, loud and clear.
I dare you to not give a fuck. About what anyone thinks of you. I dare you.
