We found a thing called happiness

in an unlikely place:

abandoned house of nastiness;

stray cats had claimed the space.

Young hearts gave push to heated blood

as tender eyes first locked,

for soul mates met amid that flood

of ruined household stock.

It took no words- we saw the sign,

despite our fledgling age;

our destinies were intertwined,

our meeting preordained.

'Twas nearly thirty years ago,

and still we are as one-

enjoying watching children grow;

a lifetime's not enough.

A love that conquers everything

life places in its path

deserves more laughs and knowing winks-

not Father Time's cruel wrath.

We'll need each other on this plane

and all that will come next

to dance beneath concealing rain-

a summer storm's request.
