Dear vacation,
How I miss you already. The bus rolls into its station, returning me to the reality that is my life. Pulling out my phone to check the time, I notice my lock screen displaying a beautiful Victorian house, strung with colorful lights. How I miss it! I unlock my phone and tap to view my photos. My lips pull back into a light smile. Bouquets of beautiful flowers and bright blue mountains bring me back to my bike ride along the waterfront. Even when my skin remembers the blazing heat, it can also recall the cool river breeze...it didn't cool me down much, but it was better than still, hot air.
Oh Vacation, I do miss your exciting breath. When I got off the bus, beginning a new adventure, the air was fresh, and led me to many a wonderful places. The sky was clear and the grass had never been so lushly green. I can still smell the freshly cut grass that I laid in while reading in the cool shade. Now, as I disembark the bus home, the hot air embraces me with exhausts fumes and day-old garbage. Solid concrete has replaced the soft earthy ground. I sigh heavily, followed by intense coughing.
But as all things, my time with you must to end. Work demands my return, and rent must be paid. Such is life. I'm sure, though, that if I continue to work really really hard, I may join you again under the carefree sun.
Until then, I will remember everything you taught me, and do my best to put it into practice. After all, it was you that rekindled my passion, and I must take it with me wherever I go.
So...thank you.
